In recent months (you know, when I’ve actually posted), I’ve moved more toward a more overall view of my finances. (I am trying to move toward financial independence, after all.) But this blog (and its predecessor) originally started as much of a side hustle showcase. I still do some of that, so I thought I would take a few paragraphs and talk about where I am actually making any amount of money with these.

2021 Goals, 2020 Results
So, I’ve been away for a while. Anything happen in 2020?
Obviously, this past year has been…different. Once again, I’m glad I didn’t try to set resolutions for 2020, seeing as virtually nothing went anywhere close to the way I had hoped. But, I do like to look back at the goals I set and figure out where to make changes and/or improvements for the next year. So, let’s rip this bandage off and look at how 2020 turned out for me, and then we can move on to my 2021 goals.
How March Madness Made Me $10,000
If you’re like me, you’re looking to reach FIRE* by any means possible. Side hustles, investing, whatever. We’ll take what we can get, right? If you have read my blog before, you know that I’ve made some extra money through ways that others might consider abnormal. But the most unlikely way I made money was many, many years ago, when I won a March Madness contest.

How I Made $39,000 on Wheel of Fortune
Yes, I write now about ways to work toward FIRE, or how to make extra money (at present, I’m not doing so great on either front). But one way I have found to make extra money is one of those pie-in-the-sky ideas that people likely write off without a moment’s consideration. Yes, I am one of those lucky few who have won some extra spending money on a game show. In my case, that show was Wheel of Fortune.
How I Earned Over $4500 With Side Hustles Last Year
2018 was a pretty good year for my side hustles. Actually, it was more than that – it was my best year for side hustles. But while I’ve been pursuing these for many years, this was probably only the second year in which I have been doing so terribly seriously.
So…let’s talk about what I did, and how my results differ from those of others.
